For Your Consideration in 2 GRAMMY® Categories: FREEDOM FIRST

  • Contemporary Instrumental Album

If you are a Grammy® voter, please consider this very special project. We would also love for you to share your music with us! Please send it to info@keithlamar.org

Freedom First features 21 musicians, including Grammy®-winner Arturo O’Farrill, and Brian Jackson, Caroline Davis, Nick Hakim...and more. The album mixes contemporary jazz (original compositions and arrangements of John Coltrane’s masterpieces) with spoken word poetry written and recited by Keith LaMar from his cell on death row in Ohio, making it a soulful project whose goal reaches far beyond music.

*FREEDOM FIRST is the first album in history created by an artist from death row.*

The State of Ohio intends to execute Keith LaMar on Nov 16, 2023. He is innocent. We intend to stop them.
